ABSTRACT
Resistant cultivars can be an effective mean to control late leafspot of peanut. The objective of this study was to evaluate agronomic characters and the resistance of nine F5 families derived from crosses between Gajah and Southern Runner. Gajah, Kelinci, Panter, and Southern Runner were planted as controls. Experiments was arranged in randomized complete block design with three replications. Families F5 G/SR 5 dan G/SR 8 were resistant to the diseases based on data on disease severity 11 and 9% at 71 days after planting. The pod and seed weight per plants of the two families were not significantly different from those of Gajah. The two families can be released as new leafspot-resistant varieties after further evaluation; or can be used as donors of leafspot resistant traits.
Key words: Cercosporidium personatum, groundnut, Southern Runner, Leafspot
